WELCOME TO WORD OF MOUTH |
| This website is updated often--sometimes several times a day. You can subscribe to the updates mailing list which is sent out every two weeks or so. However, a lot of material can pile up in that time. To keep current, bookmark and check often, or try making the WoM Blog your home page. That's where allnew content is posted! You can reset your home page in "File/Preferences" (Netscape), "Internet Options" (Internet Explorer), or "Tools/Options" (Firefox). Don't miss anything! This website was inspired by HICEEC's community visioning process. In addition to providing an informational and webvertising outlet for local people, small businesses and community groups,Word of Mouth serves as an online forum for Islanders, Hornby and Denman alike; wannabe Islanders, Hornby-friends and relations to express our viewpoints and get to know each other through the words and images posted here. Kids' Words & Pictures are Welcome! This site is a supplement to First Edition and the Grapevine, not a replacement--though we are primed to take over once paper becomes obsolete! Here all the pieces of writing that exceed the First Edition's 600-word limit may find a home. Stories, opinions, columns and articles that need more space to be unpacked fully can take all the space they need. This is a community message board, open to all sorts of exchanges of ideas and information.
The only limitation is your reader's attention span. Escape from a boring article or story is only a click away, so do try to keep it interesting. Remember, less is more (I need to remember this myself)!
Feel free to post your literary efforts and Hornby photos as well. Photos should not exceed 30kb in size; the smaller you can compress them, the better. Photos can be submitted in email or in hard copy; if necessary, I will scan and shrink them for posting on the site.

This site is an experiment in progress. Feedback, comments and suggestions are welcome. Please email comments as well as submissions, mail to 'WoMb, PO Box 85' on Hornby or drop a note in the 'W' box at the Hornby Free Post (for 'Word of Mouth') and I will respond as promptly as I can--given my level of busy-ness and the time of year! - Namaste |
Policies:All material submitted to this site remains the intellectual property of the writer: please do not copy material found on this site without proper attribution. If you wonder how I could possibly mean it--perhaps I don't.

In the Irony Department: John Lennon had this to say on his & Yoko's bed-ins for peace: "It's part of our policy not to be taken seriously because our opposition, whoever they may be, in all their manifest forms, don't know how to handle humour. We're humourists, we're Laurel & Hardy, that's John & Yoko, we're willing to be the world's clowns.... And we stand a better chance under that guise. Because all the serious people like Martin Luther King and Kennedy and Gandhi got shot." |
